First summer startup festival Startup Ferma was held in public space “Benua 1890” on 20 August, 2019. In the frame of the Festival, startups had opportunity to present their projects to representatives of venture capital funds, business-accelerators as well as to private investors and to take part in informal discussions with the most successful entrepreneurs from various business fields. Apart from that, the Festval’s program offered lecture for young entrepreneurs, intellectual battle “Business StandUp” and business lunch for experts and members of the board.
Startup Connect project became an the key official partner of the Festival. The project representatives consulted companies how to enter new markets and test technology innovation.
Since the main idea of the festival was to popularize entrepreneurship, the presentation of projects was done during one of the main festival’s sessions. From 70 applied startups, only 11 got a chance to present their projects to international team of experts. The first place went to project “Financist”. This is a service designed for financial planning and management analysis and profitability management of small and medium-sized businesses. Second place was taken by “Quatra”, a project offering complex cloud solutions to manage the access to apartments, offices and residential facilities. Finally, the cloud platform for automatization of service “Hubex” was ranked third.
Startup Connect* project’s partners such as ITMO Univesity, Cursor Oy and St. Petersburg Foundation for SME Development also participated in the event.
“Festival StartUp Ferma is forming a vortex of innovation, projects, and startups that could either transform into an independent business or become development drivers for companies that have been successfully operating in the market for a long time. We are completely agree with the festival’s idea; furthermore, we look forward to supporting the most prominent startups to enter international markets” – said Maxim Balanev – Executive director of St.Petersburg Foundation for SME Development and member of expert committee of the Startup Ferma Festival.
Likewise, Sergey Troshkov, Foreign Direct Investment Executive of Regional Development Agency of Kotka-Hamina and Head of Startup Connect, stated the high level of event’s organization and professionalism of invited speakers. He also stressed the need to further support startups and small business as a whole.
